FAQ

What is SOUP?
St. Cloud SOUP organizes dinners that provide microgrants for projects that will improve our community.

How much does the dinner cost?
SOUP is a pot luck dinner so bring soup, salad, or bread to share, and we also ask for a suggested $5 donation per person so that we can provide a proper micro-grant for the winning proposal.

What can I bring for the pot luck?
Any soup, salad, or bread is welcome. We will provide paper and markers for you to label the ingredients of your soup or salad to accommodate other diners with specific dietary needs.

Where do I send my proposal?
You can submit your proposal here or on our “Submit a Proposal” page.

Do I have to RSVP?
You can sign up for our events on the St. Cloud SOUP Facebook page; however, we operate on a first come, first served basis.

Are children allowed at SOUP?
Absolutely! We are a family-friendly event. Bring your children and encourage them to vote for their favorite proposal.

What is the schedule for the evening?
Doors open at 5:00. We begin proposals at 5:30. We will eat when proposals are finished. Proposals will take between 25 and 45 minutes. Voting begins as soon as dinner is served. Voting will close at 7:00. Once ballots are counted, we will do final announcements and share the winning proposal.

What are the rules for the dinner?
Presenters cannot use technology in their presentation, and their project must benefit the greater St. Cloud community (St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Sartell, Waite Park, St. Joseph).

Can I make an announcement even if I am not submitting a proposal?
Yes! Anyone who brings food to share can have up to 1 minute behind the microphone to share what’s on your mind.

Can I volunteer to help set up or clean up at the SOUP event.
Yes please! You can contact Sam at courtsam@hotmail.com.
